What is Domestic Violence (also called Intimate Partner Violence)?

Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive and coercive behaviors where one partner in an intimate relationship controls another through force, intimidation or threat of violence. These behaviors can include: intimidation, emotional abuse, isolation, minimization and blaming, using children, economic abuse, privilege, coercion and threats, physical, and sexual violence.
